My years

For years
there has been a lot of tossing
guessing.. finding, keeping and losing
beating myself up and crying
then going over and over again
looking but not really looking
so it doesn't appear like am desperate

As years went on
people started saying
that I was looking for a Mr. right
and that just wasn't right
saying that that kind of man doesn't come by
it seemed like a crime to want something more
someone to fulfill a certain kind of craving
a special kind of loving.. peace and understanding
amid the haste of the world
but I believed that he was out there

But as the years went on
I bump into him
an angel... an angel...
because only an angel
would
breathe sanity in the danger of war
rain warmth in the solitude of imprisonment
shine trust in the agony of torture
and love love and love in the incidence of faults
I hope am not dreaming or going crazy
because amid these cruel happenings of the world
I feel like you came in
just as the rains drenched my soul
and saved me

As years went on
Thought I had seen it all
but you amaze me each day
thought everything had changed
but you show me the perfection that exists in details
and no am not dreaming or going crazy
am not drunk or under any drug
am not bewitched or under voodoo
am just a woman
whose dream came true

The loyalty Pledge (Kenya)

I pledge my loyalty to the President
and Nation of Kenya
My readiness and duty
to defend the flag of our Republic
My life, strength and service
in the task of nation building
In the living spirit embodied
in our National motto 'Harambee'

and perpetuated in the
Nyayo philosophy
of Peace, Love and Unity.

Thinking Moi’s dictatorship!
As children we had to make the pledge!
In our rags!
With no shoes on!
Bribed with milk (maziwa ya nyayo for staying so loyal)
We recited the words out loud
Religiously we recited at the school assembly
Attention we stood when recited or else we would face the wrath of the cane!

The Poet's Muse

Iwe vipi nawa mchenge Mie pwagu iwe vipi nalemewa hivi
Macho yakikutana - yangu ya legea Natamani ardhi ifunguke nijifichie Najikaza najiwekea nanyamazia - Mwili nao msaliti - jamani, vile moyo wapiga Mwili wanisaliti - hata jinsi napumua Mwili wanisaliti - maji hayo nishakua
and when you touch me  Za! Twende sasa! Nipe yote kesho labda si yetu Cheza nami usiogope kitu Au labda tupande kwa majani tufike angani zetu Una nguvu ajab, nikipi chanisumbua
Na wanimaliza huachi hata mfupa  - umeninasa hongera mvuvi Vidole kawa miguu, sasa basi tembea jua nchi Zama kisimani - palipo madini labda almasi Nawe kwa ujuzi - ule - mizizi hata mchuzi
Shanga kiunoni - nacho hakidanganyi Kilivyo jilegeza - upate pa kushikilia kilivyo jiachilia - upate…

'Be water my friend!' Luki - Luki the Monster

Take all the forms and shapes circumstances throw you in and rise above them all! Fit in bottles, sit in a glass, flow down a mountain, sip down  the soil - smile at it it and rise above as you join the clouds! Be water my friend as Bruce Lee said.

Art is the purest expression of life! It’s so vast and is always evolving!
For me it’s about being true to myself despite other people’s opinions and thoughts of how my life should be lived.  Art comes so honestly and purely, I don’t doubt its intentions. It makes me believe in my uniqueness and self-expression, and that we all should always strive to be the best version on ourselves. I mean, we only have one life to live, so we should live it to the fullest.       My art is a mix of many genres of music that have inspired me throughout my not so long existence.  With music, I feel that I can communicate more directly and precisely no matter the language as opposed to just having a conversation.  As a rapper, cyphers have given me the …
